Jun Hwan Bup - (Spinning Principle) The 10 techniques taught in this particular set teach the student to apply the principles of Yu-Won-Hwa‎ ("soft-circular-blending" are the three core concepts on which the art of Kuk Sool is based) in a smooth and circular manner while maintaining proper body motion in order to transfer a rapid spinning motion into his/her attacker (if done properly, this should make the attacker lose his balance).

Translating jeon·hwan·beop (using RRoK standard) as "Spinning Principle" is a bit simplistic, even if it accurately describes the techniques in question. After all, the point of a wiki is to enlighten readers with more profound explanations. Looking to the hanja characters, we have 轉換法 or 전환법 in hangeul. In actuality, spinning is only hinted at due to the first word (전=change of direction, transfer; revolve, turn in a circle), but when combined with the second word (전환) it loses this meaning and merely reinforces the meaning of the second word (환=exchange, switch, adapt, substitute, convert). The last word (법) merely translates as "principle" or "methodology" (literally: law or rule/regulation). The emphasis of these techniques is to teach how you can utilize a spinning motion of your body to uproot the balance of your opponent by transferring the force of your motion into them (changing their static orientation into a moving one). Not so easy to do as the immediate reaction is for the opponent to simply release the grasp on your wrists. As noted by the conceptual portion of its name (i.e. "principle"), this set is not meant to be used as an actual collection of defensive measures but is rather taught to teach underlying aspects that should be present in every single self defense technique in your repertoire.
